While attending a meeting with Leicester City Council, our team began speaking to a charity called St Mungo's. This charity supports those who have experienced homelessness or those at risk of it, along with supporting individuals with complex needs. In the past year alone, they ran 161 services and 13 outreach teams, allowing them to support 28,359 people. Through their work they provide a bed to more than 2,850 people on any given night.
However, this charity also provides skills and employment training for the individuals, with help from the council, with one of these programmes being construction. Helping people who have experienced homelessness to gain and develop their employability is a fundamental part of the aim to help them rebuild their lives.
After hearing some of the inspiring success stories, it got us thinking about how we could help. Concorde BGW provided surplus materials such as tiles and paint to the cause and are constantly thinking of new ways we can help. We hope to continue to support this charity with future donations.
