Awards are so much more than recognition for Concorde BGW

Over the past 2 months we have claimed 3 awards for our design and build projects with another 3 venues shortlisted for upcoming awards. The awards are unmistakably a sign of us delivering inspiring projects for the leisure and hospitality industries.

Most recently The Castle, Hook Norton’s first pub in Oxford has been shortlisted in The John Smith’s Great British Pub Awards as one of their National Finalists in the Best Turnaround Pub category(s).

The Castle was closed for many months before we completely transformed the venue by re-designing and refurbishing the façade, ground floor and basement areas. The Concorde team fully re-decorated the building and the main bar has been re-modelled revealing some of the building's original Victorian features that had been covered up over time.

Always the ones to break boundaries, we created a striking front bar made from repurposed old beer crates from Hook Norton’s brewery.

The standard of entries into this year's John Smiths Great British Pub awards has been excellent, so it is a fantastic achievement to have made it to the final shortlist in the Best Turnaround Pub category. The Castle, Oxford now stand a chance of being crowned as the National Champion for the category.

All National Finalists are invited to the John Smith’s Great British Pub Awards on Thursday 6th September 2018 at The Royal Lancaster, London, where the national champions in each of the awards 19 categories will be announced, along with the overall champion - the John Smith’s Great British Pub of the Year 2018.

Our work on pubs and bars around the UK has been noticed by many other esteemed awarding bodies. The Half Moon pub in Herne Hill won the award for The Best Pub in London and The White Horse, Chilgrove won the Award for Best Pub in The UK at the National Pub and Bar awards which took place in May.

Concorde BGW was also behind the design for Nottingham’s first self-service drinks venue Another? Wine Bar which scooped the prestigious accolade for Best Drinks Venue at The Nottinghamshire Food and Drink Awards 2018.
