The Peacock is a grade II listed pub, dating back to the 19th century, built by the Duke of Rutland along the old turnpike road to Chatsworth House and Bakewell. For centuries, it served as a welcoming beacon for travellers navigating this historic route. Today, its unique location makes it an ideal destination for walkers, cyclists, and locals alike.
Much like its sister venues that we have also been a part of, this project focuses on celebrating the pub’s heritage, spectacular location, and original features, including solid oak floors, leaded windows, and exposed beams. Careful attention was given to preserving the inn's historic charm while seamlessly incorporating contemporary touches. The recent refurbishment also introduces a brand-new external seating area, offering guests the opportunity to take in the stunning panoramic views of the Peak District.
Every detail of this project was thoughtfully crafted to deliver the Longbow “Premium Pub Experience,” creating an atmosphere that radiates warmth, joy, and cosiness throughout. The entire venue is very nature-inspired with natural shades of green coupled with rich teal hues – synonymous with the beautiful, iridescent colours of the peacock bird. Black-framed mirrors and doors bring an elegant, contemporary edge, while floral patterns are beautifully incorporated in various ways to tie the design together.
