Choosing to fundraise for the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is part of our Social Value policy where we measure and manage the contribution we make to society, according to the principles laid out within the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012.
One section of our social value policy is how we support VCSE’s – Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprises. The Foundation Trust is a VCSE which means it works with social purposes, they only trade for the benefit of the community and they can only generate revenue through volunteering and reinvest any surplus back into the business or the community it serves.
An initiative by the NHS Foundation Trust to raise money is their Christmas Star Campaign. This campaign sees them mounting twinkling stars to the walls of Doncaster Royal Infirmary, each star is sponsored by a business and aims to add some festive cheer to the building whilst raising funds for staff and patients who are in hospital over Christmas.
We have pledged to sponsor the Large Business Star at a cost of £1,500 and the money raised from Christmas Jumper Day will go towards this donation.
Everyone who has participated in Christmas Jumper Day and who has made a donation has contributed to our donation to the charity.
As you can see our team had lots of fun getting involved. We have seen jumpers with hilarious sayings - "Dachshund through the snow" comes to mind when we think of that. We have also seen Elfs, Bobs Burgers, plenty of dogs, cats, santas and reindeer making an appearance on our festive knits but our winner of the Best Christmas Jumper trophy went to Lee, QS in the Doncaster office, who was sporting a never seen before jumper with the Gremlins on.
Part of our fundraising efforts was to host a Christmas Quiz (Quizmas) - first prize went to the Design Team who pulled together to get 59/70 questions correct!
