Senior Designer

Doncaster, United Kingdom Up to £47,000 DOE

 

A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join an exciting and progressive business.   We are an established and growing design, build and reactive maintenance company specialising in the hospitality and leisure sectors and we need someone to work as part of our award-winning Design department at our head office in Doncaster.

 

 

The ideal candidate will be passionate, creative and comfortable working on and leading a variety of projects either alone or as part of a team.  We have a wide range of clients including some large and well-known names but we also have small independent customers so we can offer the chance to work on a broad spectrum of projects. ​

The day-to-day duties will include but are not limited to:

 

 

  • Attending and leading project briefing meetings with new & existing clients.
  • Working to a written or verbal brief, which details how each individual space will be used.
  • Preparation of concepts, mood boards, preliminary and final designs, and development of detailed design pack.
  • Professional presentation of proposals to clients.
  • Ability to advise clients on all technical aspects of a design project and statutory requirements.
  • Produce drawing packs including details using AutoCAD (or similar)
  • Produce presentations and visuals using INdesign & Photoshop (or similar)
  • Produce F,F & E schedules and manage procurement of products.
  • Managing projects efficiently, within schedule and within budget in close co-operation with project team to help deliver projects on time.
  • Site visits to attend meetings or carry out surveys
  • Developing detailed designs and choosing materials and products with commercial suitability for projects.
  • Mentoring and assisting junior designers and leading and managing projects
  • Proven experience in dealing with clients, contractors and other suppliers in a highly professional manner.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

 

 

Required skills and expertise:

 

 

  • Creativity is key
  • AutoCAD
  • Interior Design Degree or similar or able to demonstrate suitable experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience interior design experience
  • Full UK Driving license
  • Ability to use Photoshop & InDesign (Desirable)

 

The successful candidate needs the ability to make quick and informed decisions both onsite and as a team lead, they will also need to be able to communicate effectively with excellent verbal written and communication skills. Attention to detail is critical, as well as excellent organisational and time management. You will need to manage your own time and workload effectively to meet deadlines as well as liaising and supporting other designers with their own. You will be comfortable working on larger projects and will have proven experience in running & delivering projects from initial concept to completion and producing a detailed design and FF & E Packs from which the project can be costed and built. Overall, you will have a great set of interpersonal skills with the ability to help lead and motivate a team to build effective and trusting relationships within the design team and wider company.

This a permanent contract working 37.5 hours and our core hours are 8.30am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. The salary for this position is up to £47,000 per annum and is dependent on experience. We also offer a company pension scheme & holiday buy back scheme.  We offer many opportunities for training, growth and development, including design focused away days, and work closely with our teams to help them achieve their goals.  This can be a hybrid role with some working from home as workloads and diaries allow.
